Progressive private forensic biology, relationship testing and forensic DNA laboratory seeks DNA Analyst/Forensic Scientist who meets current educational requirements of the DNA related accreditation standards of the laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a biology-, chemistry- or forensic science-related area with successful completion of college coursework in statistics and/or population genetics and at least one course in each of the following subjects, for a minimum nine cumulative credit hours: biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology.

Well-qualified candidates will possess an advanced degree in a biology-, chemistry-or forensic science-related area and/or previous training and experience in a forensic human DNA laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform relationship testing, evidence examination, stain identification, DNA testing, data analysis, and statistical calculations per established laboratory procedures;

• Maintain accurate and complete records of laboratory analyses, prepare written reports of findings and opinions, review records and reports of testing performed by other technical staff;

• Participate in developing and/or validating analytical procedures and equipment, including participation in ongoing forensic-related research and development projects for the development of new products for the forensic DNA laboratory market.

• Maintain competency in all aspects of forensic DNA testing including theory and laboratory procedures. Maintain familiarity with standards and guidance for laboratory’s multiple accreditations including ongoing continuing education.

• Provide professional, effective, accurate, and unbiased customer consultations and expert witness testimony relating to forensic testing and/or DNA identity testing.

COMPENSATION
